HORSE OSTEOPATHY

The Osteopathic treatment of horses is effective in realigning spinal vertbrae, which often cause back pain, stiffness and often signs of lameness or poor mobility. This is a holistic technique treating the whole skeletal structure, which not only realigns spinal joints but relaxes and stretches muscles and tendons to promote healing of any damaged areas and so improve performance.

Classical techniques using the horses limbs as levers are used to manipulate the lumbar spine and pelvis. This increases the force applied, but is not painful for the horse.
Articulation techniques, (Rythmic stretching) are also used to increase mobility and blood supply and speed recovery. Horses relax naturally and enjoy the treatment.

The treatments can help back and neck problems, shoulder injuries, signs of immobility and
some symptoms of leg lameness affecting both fore and hind legs. Also muscular and tendon injuries can be helped. It is also effective for promoting fitness in older horses with mild osteo-arthritis.

The photos show some of the Osteopathic treatments in action.
